Mercury: The Swift and Scorched Planet Closest to the Sun, Mercury experiences extreme temperature fluctuations, with scorching daytime temperatures reaching 800°F (427°C) and nighttime temperatures plummeting to -290°F (-179°C). Mercury’s surface is heavily cratered, resembling Earth’s Moon, due to frequent meteorite impacts.

Venus: Earth’s Toxic Twin Often referred to as Earth’s sister planet due to their similar size and mass, Venus is shrouded in thick clouds of sulfuric acid. Its surface temperature exceeds 900°F (480°C), hotter than Mercury, due to a runaway greenhouse effect, making Venus one of the most inhospitable worlds.

Pluto: The Distant World of Ice Volcanoes Though classified as a dwarf planet, Pluto continues to captivate astronomers. It features mountains of ice and possible cryovolcanoes, which may erupt with water ice rather than molten rock.
